The Essentials Package is for start-up business owners in need of a polished, professional, one-of-a-kind brand to tell their story that works with their budget.
After our 3-4 week branding process you will have a new brand that authentically represents your company, people, values and future: a new logo, sub-mark logo, brand color palette and typography selection, all summed up in a brand style guide.
A final bundle of files suitable for every application, from print to web to promotional items and more, and unrestricted usage rights is included.

Brand Strategy Questionnaire
Get ready for a deep dive into your business, brand personality, and ideal client profile. We will dig into your deepest hopes for your business so that we can build a highly strategic and targeted brand identity.
2-3 Logo Concepts & Style Tiles
It’s time to choose a direction for the “look and feel” of your new brand! Style tiles allow us to showcase each brand concept with explorations through color, pattern, typography and real world applications that apply to your business such as swag, apparel, signage and devices.
The cornerstone of your company’s visual identity. A unique and 100% you logo to visually represent your business.
We will craft a few different variations of your logo: the submark (a visual icon that is used as your site icon and in simple, graphical applications) and alternate logo layouts so that it will fit each application perfectly.
We will choose 3-5 colors based on your brand personality, color psychology, and how you’d like for your company to be perceived by your dream customers. We will use these colors for all of your branded marketing materials moving forward.
Based on your brand’s personality and desired look and feel, we will choose some recommended fonts for all of your marketing materials and show you how to combine them for a professional brand.
Brand Style Guide
Once we’ve selected our favorite logo, submark, color palette, and fonts we will build out a one-page brand board that you can go back and reference and share with vendors and employees so that your branding stays on-point no matter who is representing it.
Ownership + Files
You will own the rights and files for the chosen logo concept and any subsequent pieces produced. Includes a final bundle of files suitable for every application, from print to web to promotional items and more, and unrestricted usage rights.

Don't Play in Someone Else's Sandbox
Strong and successful brands are unique. They have a unique message and do something different than other brands. Don’t be afraid to be different. Speak a unique tone, take a new stance, follow a controversial belief or see the future through a different lens.
You may occupy a space with another major player and struggle to compete with them. Don’t fall into trap of believing “better” is what sets you apart. It’s not enough. Your product or company may be better than your competition but that does nothing to differentiate you from them. Better is actually worse. Different is what matters.
Male or female 18-65 is not your target market
Often when discussing target markets, our branding clients are hesitant to get specific here. They are afraid if they leave someone out, they are missing a sale. However, your brand and business will be more successful if you target a very specific market and customer.
In such a fragmented and noisy world, if you aren’t specific with your target market you will end up lost in the sea of competitors. By trying to sell to everyone, you actually attract no one.
Unless you have a huge marketing budget (and I mean millions of dollars), you must be specific with your market and deliver the right message to resonate.
Don't define based on your competitor
While it’s important to know your competitors, they are not the benchmark for your success nor should they be comparable to your identity. As long as you define yourself against a competitor, your identity is tethered to theirs and will always be limited. Your goal should be to send the signal that those other players don’t even register on your radar.
Lead with the story, not the product
By focusing your brand around your product, you risk being immediately irrelevant the minute a competitor comes along and one ups you. You may have an amazing product or service but it’s when you pair that with a compelling story, you’ll have a lasting, memorable brand that connects with your customers and builds a community of brand ambassadors.
If you fail to do this, you’re just another company with a smart product, but no real vision.
Stories don’t have to be heart wrenching or overly emotional (I’m personally tired of all the brands trying to make me cry), but they should speak to a desire. That can mean making the consumer the hero, giving them a sense of belonging, or perhaps giving them permission to do something.

After signing the proposal and paying your deposit, we’ll kick off the project with a deep dive into your business, brand personality, and ideal client profile. We’ll dig into your deepest hopes for your business so that we can build a highly strategic targeted brand identity. We accomplish this through a lengthy discovery questionnaire so you can take your time to give thoughtful answers as well as a follow up call to discuss any sticky points or brainstorm collaboratively.
Let the magic happen
The most highly anticipated step of the branding process. Here’s where ideas come to life. I’ll work up several creative options for you—smart solutions that make sense and are a great fit with the parameters we’ve established in the discovery phase of the branding process. I present your branding concepts in the form of style tiles which give you a more hollistic view of how the brand can come alive through color, pattern, typography and real world applications that apply to your business such as swag, apparel, signage and devices.
From among the concepts presented, you’ll choose the best idea to focus on. Then I’ll refine it through a few iterations until it’s just right.
If your chosen branding package includes identity collateral such as social profile branding or business cards, we’ll begin the process of designing them. For each deliverable we’ll go through a similar process: discovery, concept, refine, finalize.
Once you’ve approved your new logo, we’ll finalize the branding package by preparing a one-page brand style guide with logo usage, fonts chosen and color values. This document is great tool for all employees to reference and share with vendors so that your branding stays on-point no matter who is representing it. We’ll export your logo files into the most common file types for print, web and specialty items as well as create 1 color, inverse and PMS color versions of your logos so you are covered no matter what you what you want to put your new logo on.

The fine print
- Our branding process focuses on the visual representation of your brand. We can help you identify the key differentiators and target market for your business but carefully crafting that into a brand strategy takes additional effort and the talent of a skilled copywriter. We have a network of very talented copywriter friends that have done just that for businesses in almost every industry: from breweries, to economic development to retail to pharma to cyber security. Contact us if you foresee the need for a more in depth brand strategy.
- The branding process can take 3-8 weeks depending on the package selected and is contingent upon your timely communication along the way. We are happy to provide you with a project schedule at the start of our project together, however any delay will require the schedule to be adjusted. Prolonged delays may mean your project is paused and we’ll decide how to proceed.
- Two rounds of refinement are included for each deliverable. Any additional rounds of revisions will be out of scope and billed separately.
- Print and production time, as well as the associated cost, are not included. We are happy to help connect you with printers and facilitate correct file / color prep so that everything is executed beautifully.
- Any additional work outside of the project scope will be discussed and billed at an hourly rate of $100 unless a new package is determined and used as an add on fee.
